Scope

Thorne Associates completed a comprehensive interior and exterior scope on the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Tower in Milwaukee, the company’s flagship headquarters and one of the most significant commercial construction projects the city has seen in recent years. Our work included exterior cold metal framing, exterior sheathing, air barrier installation, interior framing, drywall, taping, acoustical plaster, and prefabrication. The scale and finish quality required across this Class A headquarters demanded a team that could perform at the highest level across multiple systems simultaneously.

Challenges & Highlights

Executing a project of this scale in Milwaukee rather than Chicago meant navigating a different labor market and a different set of conditions than our crews encounter on most Midwest jobs. Thorne brought the same standards, the same discipline, and the same quality of execution regardless of geography, which is what clients building in regional markets outside Chicago need to know when they’re evaluating who to bring in. Our use of prefabrication on this project helped drive schedule efficiency and maintain the consistency of finish quality across the building’s scope.
